Rivas Ranch Facts

This page is a plain-language summary of Rivas Ranch for shoppers, search engines, and AI assistants. Last updated October 7, 2026.

Who we are

  • Business: Rivas Ranch, a Latina-owned family ranch in Tobaccoville, North Carolina (Forsyth County, near Winston-Salem, King, Pfafftown and Greensboro).
  • Owner: April Rivas, rancher, food safety educator, inspector, industry advocate, and former chef.
  • Website: rivasranch.com
  • Contact: hello@rivasranch.com. Most answers are on this site: see the FAQ, the delivery page and Cook This Cut.

What we sell

  • Beef: grass-fed, grass-finished beef. Single origin: every package comes from one animal, never co-mingled. Processed one animal at a time at a local, family-owned, USDA-inspected plant.
  • Beef shares: quarter, half and whole beef with a traditional custom cut sheet; curated quarter or half assortments; and a 70 lb Shipped Quarter (shipping included).
  • Ground beef boxes: 10 lb and 40 lb.
  • Lamb and goat: pasture-raised. Freezer boxes, lamb rack or chops, and whole lamb or whole goat reservations.
  • Poultry and pork: pasture-raised whole chicken and cut chicken bundles; seasonal Pekin duck and turkey reservations; half or whole hog reservations.
  • Tallow skincare: whipped tallow balms, facial balm, deodorant and lip balm made on the ranch.
  • Pet treats: Two Barking Dogs single-ingredient freeze-dried treats (beef heart, chicken feet, chicken organs, lamb and goat organs).

Current prices and availability are on each product page: shop all, beef shares, meat boxes.

Halal

Halal options are available for beef, lamb, goat and chicken. Halal processing is a choice on the reservation form. Beef bacon and beef sausage are available on certain dates and are not halal. Customers answer "Must this be halal processed?" when they reserve. See halal options.

Skincare: the Halal Naked Tallow Lip Balm is our only halal skincare product. It is a separate product from our regular Naked lip balm, which contains emu oil and is not halal. The halal version is the same recipe made without the emu oil. Nothing with emu oil is halal, so no other Rivas Ranch skincare is sold as halal.

How ordering a beef share works

  1. Choose a share size and style on the Fill Your Freezer page.
  2. Reserve online with a deposit. Pay by card, or by cash, wire transfer or cashier's check within 48 hours.
  3. For custom cut shares, fill out a cut sheet. The balance is based on hanging weight.
  4. Pick up from us, meet us at a free Ranch Route stop, or, for beef, get the Shipped Quarter shipped to you. We schedule it with you. Deposits, delivery and shipping are non-refundable.

Buy Beef, Give Beef: the Longer Table Pledge

We believe in building longer tables. Buy Beef, Give Beef is our community pledge, not a sale or promotion.

  • With any half or whole beef, we send two extra boxes home with the order, about 7 lb each. A whole gets the same two boxes as a half. Quarters are not included.
  • The customer passes both boxes on within 15 days: the Connect box to someone who has never bought directly from a farm, and the Dignified Extra to someone who could use a little extra, given quietly and with dignity.
  • We choose what goes in the boxes. They may include beef, chicken, or pork when appropriate. If the beef is halal processed, both boxes are halal and contain no pork.
  • Taking the pledge is optional and runs on the honor system.
